Create a component inventory
List boards, cards, player aids, printed tokens, rulebooks and the box. Include the quantity per game and the total number of games. Identify any nonprinted components separately so sourcing responsibilities can be agreed.
Specify each printed part
For a board, give open and folded dimensions. For cards, give size, count, deck count and artwork variants. For a rulebook, give trim size, page count and binding preference. Do not rely on a photograph to communicate dimensions.
Plan the finished box
Measure cards as packed stacks and boards in their folded form. Include the insert and any protective packing. Check the actual packing order and removal of components before finalizing box dimensions.
Check the artwork as a system
Use consistent names and version numbers across component files. Check card orientation, shared backs, player information and rule references. Keep essential artwork away from cuts and folds.
Agree on samples, checks and timing
Discuss what a sample will demonstrate: print appearance, structure, component fit or the complete packed game. Confirm the approval process and the responsibilities for printing, sourcing, assembly and transport.
